As many equations as possible are included on ones that need an actual number for an answer, because last week we found out that all our numbers were different.  This week they seem to be the same.

1A
Hint 2 Subhint 3 = L^2*g*d*rho_2
Hint 2 = L^2*g*d*rho_2  +  L^2*g*(L-d)*rho_3
Hint 3 = rho_1*L^3*g
Final = L(rho_1 – rho_3) / (rho_2 – rho_3)

2A
Hint 1 = rho_b * (V_b/(100^3)) = .300kg
Final = Hint 1 * g = 2.94N

2B
Hint 2 = Hint 3 = 873 Pa
Final = 1.00N (same pressure before and after = same weight)

2C
Hint 2 = rho_fluid * (V_b/(100^3)) * g = .524
Hint 3 = (rho – rho_b)Vg + F_r
Final = Weight from Part A – Hint 2 = F_r = 2.42N

2D
Hint 2 = same as Hint 2 in 2C by Archimedes Principle
Final = orig fluid wt + (ball density – fluid density)(V_b/(100^3))(g) = 3.42N

3A
Hint 4 = Pressure of air in the building * area of tank bottom = ~164,000N
Hint 5 Subhint 1 = p_surf + pgH = 130,000 + (1000)(g)(14.4) = ~183,000N
Hint 5 = Hint5Subhint1 * Area of tank bottom = ~330,000N
Final = Hint 5 – Hint 4 = ~166,000N

4A
rho_water(V)(g)

4B
(rho_water(V)(g) – T) / g

4C
(1 – T/(rho_water*V*g))*100 <-- percentage so *100

5A
Hint 2 = A_2*v_hole
Hint 3 = sqrt(2gh + (v_surf)^2) <-- use the given equation, the rho_1 and rho_2 are equal, cancel out
Hint 4 Subhint 1 = v_hole*A_2 / A_1
Hint 4 = sqrt (2gh / (1 – (A_2/A_1)^2)))
Hint 5 = - sqrt (2gh / ((A_2/A_1)^2 – 1))
Final = 51.9s

6A
Hint 3 Subhint 1 = A*dr*rho
Hint 3 = rho*dr*A*omega^2*r
Hint 4 = F_c / A
Hint 5 = rho*omega^2*r*dr
Final = .5*rho*omega^2*(r^2 – (r_0)^2)  +  p_0

7A
Hint 1 = rho*g*(h-x)
Final = rho*g*(h-x)*L*dx

7B
Hint 3 = rho*g*(h-x)*x*L*dx
Final = rho*g*L*h^3 / 6

8A
1.50m/s <-- flow rate in m^3/s over cross section area, same for 8B

8B
6.00m/s

8C
From lecture, .5*rho*((velocity at small opening)^2 – (velocity at big opening)^2) where rho is density of water (1000kg/m^3) = 1.69E4

8D
Find pressure at each point, convert to mmHg then to cmHg and find the difference = 12.7cm (1 Pa = .0075006 mmHg)

9A
F / (rho_water*l*w*g)

9B
Water level SINKS

9C
Part A – (F/(rho*l*w*g)) <-- NOTE that the rho in 9A is DIFFERENT from the rho here.  There is a rho_water and a plain rho.

10A
Rho*g*h_1

10B
Hint 2 = rho*g*h_2
Hint 3 Subhint 1 = p_1 + .5*rho*((v_1)^2 – (v_2)^2)
Hint 3 Subhint 2 = A_1*v_1 / A_2
Hint 3 = p_1 + .5*rho*(v_1)^2 * (1 – (A_1/A_2)^2)
Final = sqrt (2g(h_2 – h_1) / (1 – gamma^2)

11A
Hint 2 = dV/dt (givens) = ~83,300
Hint 3 = 40,000
Final = -40,000

11B
Hint 2 = .000314
Hint 3 = ~1.27E8
Hint 4 = Hint 3
Hint 5 = 3.32E-3
Final = 4.23E5

11C
The pressure that the water exerts on the walls of the glass bottle is greater than the pressure required to break the glass.

YB owes me $48.69

Check out Roger's Xanga for the short story and a quick laugh.
For History buffs, check out Val's Xanga (Watergate style)
To see a version by the YB Possie ringleader, check out Michelle's Xanga
To see the comic strip that's going into the school newspaper, check out Noel's Xanga

Today was totally frikkin hilarious.  Started out innocently enough.  I left around 9:40 or something to pick up Rog and we went to Noel's house to work on the Yearbook stuff.  Sarah got lost and Val had to go find her haha.  Then Conklin came with Ian...oh man so we had to watch that kid.  I was like leaping up hecka fast from my chair to keep him from pulling the whole house down haha...guess I had practice watching my baby cousin haha.

So I wrote this copy for the first time and Sarah only changed ONE sentence in it.  Damn I'm just brilliant...hah yeah right.  I'm so proud of myself.  So after that we were trying to figure out what to do cuz Conk had left because Ian needed sleep so ya we were alone.  So we decided we're going out to lunch on YB's tab.  But we didn't have money so we went to Conklin's house first.  Of course, being us, we don't know where Conklin's house is but we drove around the neighborhood for like 10 mins trying to find it.

The moment Val decided to stop following me, we found the house...haha suckerrrr.  So anyway we all got there but there were problems.  1) She wasn't pickin up.  2) It was dark inside.  3) Nobody came to the door, because the doorbell was not working.  Soooo we decided to hop around the back yard and knock on all the windows.  And nothing happened.

So...we were JUST about to leave but some brilliant mind named Val opened the car door...which happened to be UNLOCKED.  Wow...genius.  I guess we weren't gonna do anything but then I yelled LOOK FOR THE GARAGE DOOR OPENER!  And I went to the other side of the car to see if I could find it but by the time I got there it already opened.  So me and Val busted inside and looked around...TV was on but nobody was in the room.

I see Val on the carpet and I yell at her to take off her shoes.  And everybody takes off their shoes and raids the house.  We find Conklin in the master bedroom passed out on the bed with dirty underwear on the floor...hahaha.  We woke her up and she almost died of fear.  So she got up...and we started talkin and stuff and she took pictures of how we took off all our shoes lol.

So yeah then we left and decided to take the camera.  This fact only becomes significant LATER.

So everybody wanted to go to In-N-Out in Millbrae...so yeah me and Val had no choice so we decided to drive them there.  We're almost out to El Camino before Val calls and goes...Sarah never had sushi!  So we went to Ichiban instead.  Remember we took Conklin's camera?  Apparently, she didn't know.  So then Conklin called us and asked if we took her camera.  I took the phone and started yelling at her in Cantonese.  Then we hung up...and called her back to tell her we took her camera...."yo... tengo tu... camera! nosotros returmos!"  - Michelle D. Wong (11).

And we made Sarah EAT.  Damn we taught her a lot of stuff...and she's gooood.  She's really good at using chopsticks, especially for a first time.  No food was flying around, and the area around her was CLEAN!  Lookit that BIS shirt.  Psh...WMS > BIS

So after lunch, we went to Conklin's house to drop off the camera...but I think somehow we didn't.  Even worse, we locked Conklin out of the house with Ian inside.  So Roger had to go around the back and break in...no damage was caused and everything was alright again.  Then we left...with the camera.

We went back to Noel's house and uploaded the pics, then went to the tea place and grab some tea for ourselves and Conklin.  So we drove back to Conk to deliver the tea...and she wasn't there...so we had to go back to Noel's house.  Watched The Incredibles, during which I fell asleep, then Conklin came by to pick up her tea, and that's the end of our exciting day.

While we were bored...

Michelle's new prom date.

Sarah being bored

Conklin being left all alone while we schemed against her

I never really understood why my friends always complain so much about food.  They always talk about how they have no food at home...and I'm always like what the heck...what do you mean there's no food?!  I guess I'm pretty spoiled.  I mean look what happens when my mom goes grocery shopping...and this is just one trip out of the 2 or 3 that she does in a week

So the result is that my house is chocked full of food...it's like enough to survive on for a month if we really try.

This is our makeshift pantry.  You can clearly see lots of Chips Ahoy, Nutter Butter, Granola bars, various cans of fruit and beans, lots of soup, tomato paste, boxes and boxes of Mac and Cheese, and TEN BOXES of brownies that you guys love sooo much (hidden in the back), and various kinds of sauce at the bottom.  Oh yeah...lots of Milano cookies.  I donno why.  Must have been a sale.  Or maybe they were being given away cuz they expired.  I dunno, my mom hasn't ever bought these things before.

My never ending source of Gatorade, water, tea, coffee, juices, and toothpicks.  The above little thingy also holds the coffee maker, the toaster, and the rice cooker.  It is handily replenished by this stronghold in my garage.

Next to the little white cabinet thingy on wheels is this shelf, with peanuts, shrimp chips, candy, cereal, seaweed, Ritz, sauces, oatmeal, chocolate truffles, fortune cookies, saltines, and bread.  By the way, the bread is in the bottom right corner, sitting on my bucket of rice.

This thing just got replenished.  It barely closes anymore.  In the freezer we have lots of hot dog/polish sausage, ground beef, chicken, hamburger buns, fish fillets, breakfast muffins with sausage/egg, ice cream, pizza, frozen dinners, potstickers, buffalo wings, and some teriyaki chicken breasts.  Over on the fridge side is our jams/spreads, milk, juice, margheritas, dressings, soy milk, salads, left overs, home made blueberry tarts, eggs, tuna spread, etc etc.

In the cabinet next to the fridge, we have some fruits, eggs, sesame seed, curry, Pho soup base, potato leek soup, Chunky soup, Pot Pie soup, and 3 bars of Cadbury.  It was 5...until someone ate a couple.

Below that cabinet, we have a cabinet dedicated just to CANS.  Of course, it has the mandatory spam...no Asian household is complete without SPAM!  Some more soup, baked beans, boxes of oysters that we couldn't find anywhere else to put, canned tuna, etc.

Finally we have this cabinet above the stove dedicated to noooodles.  All sorts from all walks of life, this cabinet has udon, kimchi, ramen, cup of noodles, mee goreng (Indo), mee fun, spaghetti noodles, other types of pasta, and of course chow mein noodles :)

Now you see why I never lose any weight......

But after seeing all this food, doesn't it make you wanna go on a YB DSR (Dim Sum Retreat)?
